Faces&PlacesSeptember 2003Jack Tenney, publisher of Business People Vermont, announced the appointment of Jim Nichols as advertising representative. A native Vermonter, Nichols recently returned to the state from Charleston, S.C., where he had his own marketing business. For nine years before that, the Champlain College graduate was general manager of operations at Artists' Mediums in Williston. Spherion announced the hiring of Chad Bouvier as human resource coordinator of the South Burlington office. Bouvier is a recent graduate of Champlain College. Champlain College announced three new dedicated bachelor's degree tracks: public relations, Web site development and management, and paralegal studies. They debut this fall. The Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa named Chris Pulito spa director of its new 50,000-square-foot spa. Pulito has 10 years in the industry, most recently as spa director for Avanyu Spa at La Posada Resort in Santa Fe, N.M. Mad River Snow Inc., a consortium created to offer a single source for resort construction, interior design, wayfinding systems and signage, announced the Waitsfield firm Wood & Wood Design has joined as a partner. Other members of the consortium are Maurer Construction of Penticton, B.C.; and Mad River Snow, a Waitsfield general contractor and construction management firm. Jennifer Robinson joined Kelliher Samets Volk as art director. She will direct creative projects for Rural Cellular Corp.'s national communication campaign and other campaigns. Robinson was with Ogilvy & Mather in New York City. Flight Options, a provider of fractional shares in jet aircraft and an affiliate of Raytheon Co., named two regional sales directors. George Kocher and Clay Wilcox will lead sales efforts in the Northeastern United States. New England Financial announced the following appointments. John W. Murphy joined NEF as a financial representative. He was with Bombardier. Andy Higgins, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF, was appointed financial representative. He has 14 years of experience in the industry. Lacey M. Osborne was promoted from policyholder service analyst to new business analyst. Jillian B. Fiorillo was named policyholder service analyst. The firm recently expanded its operations and moved into an 8,237-square-foot space on the third floor of 302 Mountain View Drive on Water Tower Hill in Colchester. Charlie Nardozzi, chairman of the Vermont Community Botanical Garden, announced the appointment of Nicole LaBrecque as director of development. LaBrecque was a major gifts fund-raiser for the Renaissance project at Fletcher Allen Health Care. Continued growth has generated a move for Green Mountain Systems & Service Inc. from Essex Junction to 49A Commerce Ave., South Burlington. The board of directors of Yankee Insurance Group and Hackett Valine & MacDonald announced the transition to new leadership. L. Stephen Hackett was elected chairman and CEO; Edward L. Austin III was elected president; Timothy E. Ford is senior vice president and secretary; Richard A. Bazluke is senior vice president and treasurer; Kevin F. Dwyer is senior vice president, risk management; and Deborah J. Balserus is senior vice president, select customer services. L. Fred Hackett will continue to be active with both companies as vice chairman and John J. Dwyer will continue in his role as executive vice president. Fothergill Segale & Valley, Certified Public Accountants in Montpelier, announced the advancement of Donald Murray, CPA, to manager. He has been with the firm since January 1998. DuBois & King Inc. regional consulting firm announced that Richard Camara, P.E., joined the firm as manager of the mechanical engineering department for the Building Services Division. Matthew T. Murawski joined the firm as a hydrologist with expertise in stormwater management, erosion control and water resource planning. He was with the Environmental Protection Agency. Primary Care Health Partners is relocating in October to expanded offices at 600 Blair Park in Williston. Tony Blake of V/T Commercial, assisted both landlord and PCHP with leasing the 3,276-square-foot space. Batchelder Associates PC, announced its new location at 1 Conti Circle, Barre. The accounting firm also announced a partnership with Fewer Insurance Agency of Barre and Montpelier to expand its services beyond accounting to personal and business insurance and financial needs. Jessica LaCroix has joined Marketing Partners Inc. as program assistant. As a summer intern, the Essex High School senior will study and assist with market research projects. Champlain College announced the appointment of Dr. Russell E. Willis as provost. Willis was vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty at Dakota Wesleyan University in South Dakota. The Milton Skate Club inc. was recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a nonprofit organization, making it eligible for tax-deductible donations and grants. The group was formed for the purpose of creating a skate park in Milton. Steve Salls was hired by Johnson Woolen Mills to lead the marketing and sales efforts of the 161-year-old manufacturer of rugged outdoor clothing. He was with Corporate Outfitters. Brent Sloan, co-owner of Wine Works, is leaving the company's Burlington operation to expand the business's reach in the southern United States. Wine Works' new location will be in Houston, Texas. North Country Press announced the appointment of Anthony Boccio and Vickie Allen to its sales team. New to NCP, Boccio covers Chittenden County and central and southern Vermont. Allen has been with the company several months in another position. She works with Franklin County customers. Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility hired Stephani Kononan as membership services coordinator. Kononan is a 2003 graduate of Champlain College with a major in media communications and public relations. PinCrafters LTD has moved from Williston Road to 45 Kilburn St., Burlington. Burroughs is a recent graduate of Champlain college with a degree in business management. Donna Harris joined the Vermont chapter of the March of Dimes as director of finance and operations. She has over 15 years' experience in bookkeeping and accounting. Jager Di Paola Kemp Design announced the appointment of Kassie Miller as color team director. Miller was with Sketchers Inc., a Manhattan Beach, Calif., footwear manufacturer. |
