Fred Satink has joined Smith, Bell & Thompson Insurance in the newly created position of national programs risk manager. Satink has 18 years of experience in the field and will provide loss control and claims assistance to clients throughout the country.

The board of directors of Everybody Wins! Vermont, a reading and mentorship program for children, announced that Marianne Fisher was named executive director. She succeeds J. Lisa Christie, who began the program four years ago.

Grounds for Health announced that A. August Burns, PA, MPH, CM, was named executive director. She has 26 years' experience in women's health, is co-author of Where Women Have No Doctor, and was a contributor to the 2005 edition of Our Bodies, Ourselves.

Lisa Dansereau and Matthew Dittrich joined the staff of Yankee Medical in the St. Albans branch. Dansereau is a certified mastectomy fitter; Dittrich is an ABC Certified Orthotist.

Roger L. Webster was appointed investment specialist at New England Financial Vermont. The sixth-generation Vermonter has 14 years of experience as an investment professional.

REM Development announced the appointment of Bradford J. Worthen as director of marketing. Worthen was a rail transportation consultant to the state of
Vermont; is the founding owner of Norrell Services (Spherion) of Burlington; and has an extensive background in broadcast media.

Northfield Savings Bank hired Kim Anderson as a mortgage originator in its South Burlington branch office. Anderson was a loan originator with Spruce Mortgage. She is studying for her master's degree in sales and marketing at St. Michael's.

Bread Loaf Corp. of Middlebury announced the promotion of David Kirby to vice president of construction. Kirby has been with the company for 16 years as a project manager.

Barbara Gans of Grand Isle has joined the South Hero office of Coldwell Banker Islands Realty Inc. Gans is a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Vermont Association of Realtors and the Northwestern Vermont Board of Realtors. She also serves on the board of directors of the Lake Champlain Islands Chamber of Commerce.

Burak Anderson & Melloni PLC announced that Shane McCormack and Anja Freiburg have joined the firm as associate attorneys. McCormack was with a New York City law firm; Freiburg was with a
Chicago law firm.

Casey Family Services has named Nita C. Lescher director of its Vermont division. Lescher oversees a staff of 27 and programs serving more than 60 children in foster care. More than 100 families receive post-adoption services and family advocacy and support programs. The division has offices in White River Junction and Waterbury. Lescher was with American Humane in Denver.

Russell Construction Services of Rutland announced that Craig Jennings was promoted to director of estimating. Jennings has been with Russell since 1999.

Lamoureux & Dickinson Consulting Engineers Inc. in Essex Junction announced the promotion of Andrew Rowe, P.E., to vice president and director of the corporation. The design engineer and project manager has been with the firm since 1993.

Sharon Gutwin, owner of the RehabGYM in Williston, announced that Brooke Poremski, PT, has joined the team of physical therapists and athletic trainers. Poremski was with the Sports and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Center of Fletcher Allen. She has advanced clinical and yoga therapy experience.

The Fleming Museum announced that Evelyn Hankins was named curator of collections and exhibitions. Hankins holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University, where her primary field of study was 20th-century American and European art. She was with the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City. Prof. John Seyller, an internationally renowned scholar of Indian art, was appointed to the position of adjunct curator of Asian art. Seyller has taught in the University of Vermont's department of art since 1986. Kim Trauceniek was hired as administrative assistant and events coordinator following the retirement of Marilyn Van Houten. She recently graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, with a double major in English and political science.

Pioneer Environmental Associates LLC of Vergennes announced that Krista Reinhart has joined the firm as senior watershed scientist. She has a master's degree in forestry from the UVM school of natural resources.

Demont & Associates Inc., a fund-raising consulting firm in South Burlington, hired Laura Caesar Smith as a part-time associate. She was assistant with Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H.

The Vermont Cancer Center has moved from the Health Center Complex to 210 Colchester Ave. in Burlington.

Black River Design Architects PLC of Montpelier announced that Taryn Nye joined the firm as a summer intern. Nye is enrolled in the architecture program at
Miami University in Ohio.

Thomas S. Leavitt, senior vice president, retail banking for Merchants Bank, announced that Jeri Baker, teller customer representative, was promoted to lender customer representative at the South Hero branch. To earn the promotion, Baker was required to complete courses at the bank's CARR (Credit Authority Review and Rating) and PETT (Performance Evaluation Training and Tracking) programs.
