The Vermont Mutual Insurance Group of Montpelier announced the following appointments. Joseph G. Swainbank was hired as a claims supervisor in the property claims department. He was owner of North Country Claim Service of Littleton, N.H. Walter F. Moore was hired as a casualty claim specialist responsible for claim investigations in the Massachusetts and Rhode Island territories. He was with Providence Washington Insurance Co. in Rhode Island.

Susan Parmer, R.N., has accepted the position of regional director of donor services for the American Red Cross Blood Services, New England region. Parmer was on the nursing staff of Maine Medical Center and the University of California at Irvine Medical Center.

Redstone commercial real estate firm announced that Ivan Favereau was hired as maintenance technician for the property management division. With 19 years of mechanical and carpentry experience, Favereau was a property manager in St. Albans.

Avonda Air Systems has moved from San Remo Drive to 1879 Williston Road, Suite 1, in South Burlington. The phone number is 865-9900; fax number is 865-9777.

Norwich University has launched an online master of civil engineering program, its first foray into the engineering distance education field. It joins the school's four online programs in business administration, information assurance, justice administration and diplomacy.

The law office of Matthew T. Daly P.C. announced that the firm's name was changed to Daly & Daly P.C. with the addition of M. Cecilia Daly to the firm. She was general counsel to the Vermont Department of Housing and Community Affairs in the Agency of Commerce and Community Development.

KeyBank named Donald L. Baker Vermont district commercial banking team leader. His territory includes all of Vermont; Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties in New York; and Cheshire, Coos, Grafton, Merrimack and Sullivan counties in New Hampshire. Baker was a senior banker with the team.

Jager Di Paola Kemp Design hired Benjamin Wilson as senior digital production specialist. Wilson was with a North Haven, Conn., firm.

SoVerNet announced the addition of Bill LaCour to its field sales team. He has been with the company for six years.

Saffire Mortgage and Saffire Real Estate have moved to 595 Dorset St., South Burlington. The company acquired its office condos with the services of Linda I. Letourneau of Redstone. Saffire Mortgage announced that Kurt Wright has joined its sales team. Wright is a former Burlington city councilor and is a member of the Legislature. Colin Schmidt received his real estate license in September and joined the team of principal broker Mary Ellen Mirisola and Wright.

Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC announced the appointment of three lawyers to its team. Craig Miskovich joined the firm's Brattleboro office to practice general business law. Shari R. Sobel, a recent Vermont Law School graduate, also joined the Brattleboro office and practices labor and employment law. Tamara DiVasto was named to the Business Law Group at DRM in Burlington.

Valerie Winot of Proctorsville was hired by Marketing Partners Inc. as a research and marketing assistant.

Connie Houston was named managing broker at the Middlebury office of Lang Associates. Houston has been a Realtor for 23 years. George Brewer, former director of Lang's Middlebury office, has opened his own real estate firm, Addison County Real Estate, in Middlebury. Lang also announced that Deborah Olsen has joined the Trombley team as a buyer specialist.

St. Michael's College announced the appointment of Will Mentor as professor on a tenure track in the fine arts department. Since 1984, Mentor has had numerous solo exhibitions in galleries around the world. Dr. Bonalyn J. Nelsen has joined the college's department of business administration as an associate professor on a tenure track. She was with the school of hotel and tourism management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. announced the appointment of Scott McCreary as chief operating officer. He was an executive with Unilever North America, most recently the senior director of operations at Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc.

The law firm Merritt & Merritt & Moulton hired Elizabeth L. Gallup as a paralegal. The Waitsfield native was with a Fairfield, Conn., firm.

MVP Health Care named Elizabeth Schneider, M.D., FAAFP, to the newly created position of Vermont medical director. She is a staff physician at Mylan Family Health Center/Meridian Corp. in St. Albans and an assistant professor at the University of Vermont department of family practice. Bettie Gurnham-Bransfield was promoted to the post of Vermont regional sales manager. She has been an account manager with MVP since 2002.

Wendy L. Jestings joined the Northern Vermont Financial Group in Essex Junction representing the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. She was area director for the American Diabetes Association.
