Sarah Carpenter, executive director of Vermont Housing Finance Agency, announced the hiring of Joshua Slade as multifamily operations specialist. Slade worked at Champlain Housing Trust for three years, and had served a year as an intern with VHFA until his graduation from Champlain College in 2004.

Redstone commercial real estate announced that David B. Jacobs joined the brokerage team as a sales and leasing agent. Jacobs has been a licensed Vermont broker since 1985. David W. Oliker, president and CEO of MVP Health Care, announced the appointment of William V. Little as vice president of Vermont. A Charlotte resident, Little was with Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan.

The Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center expanded its statewide field staff with the hiring of Daniel Shea as a professional manufacturing adviser. Shea will concentrate on delivering VMEC assistance and services to manufacturers in the southwest area of Vermont. He has more than 25 years’ experience working for manufacturers in Vermont and Connecticut.

Lincoln Applied Geology Inc. announced the hiring of several individuals. Iossy Medvinsky, LPG, CPG, CHMM, is senior geologist/project manager and chief of operations. He has more than 18 years’ experience. Shawn Donovan, hired as an environmental scientist, is a Vermont Certified Class A Licensed Designer. Dagan Murray was hired as environmental scientist/project manager. He was with Griffin International.

 The Baird Center, Champlain Drug & Alcohol Services and The Howard Center for Human Services will now operate under a unified name, HowardCenter. The announcement was made by Todd Centybear, executive director. HowardCenter will also have a new phone system with a common exchange, 488, for all programs. The agency’s redesigned and reformatted Web site is www.howardcenter.org.

Vermont Public Television announced the promotion of two staff members. Joe Merone was named senior executive producer, in charge of local program production. Merone has been with VPT since 1980, and, since 1997, has been executive producer of VPT’s public affairs programs. Rob Belle-Isle was promoted to director of engineering, responsible for the engineering and technology for the Colchester studio and statewide transmission network. He joined VPT in 1994.

Matthew Hayes, president and founder of the Hayes Group, announced that Richard Lewis joined the advertising firm as manager of public relations. Lewis has more than 20 years’ experience in communications, most recently with the American Cancer Society.

Rebecca Stone joined the staff of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra as development associate. She was executive director of the Vermont Mozart Festival and, at one time, ran a piano studio in Essex.

Kim Boudreau was named assistant commercial account representative at Hackett Valine & MacDonald Inc. Boudreau has more than 10 years’ experience in the insurance industry in personal and commercial lines.

Thomas McGregor (left) and Timothy Peyko of McGregor Peyko & Associates in Colchester announced the firm has become a member of National Financial Partners. The membership gives McGregor Peyko access to more than 50 life insurance sources. National Financial Partners Corp. is the parent company of NFP Securities Inc.

The law offices of Fred V. Peet PC in Burlington announced that Kevin J. Shortell has become associated with the firm. Shortell will practice in the areas of real estate, wills, probate and estates.

Champlain College announced the appointment of Sue Rowley as dean of the division of education and human studies, and Betsy Beaulieu as dean of the core division. Rowley has taught psychology courses at the college for 17 years. She was interim dean of the division. Beaulieu was on the faculty of Appalachian State University in North Carolina.

The United Way of Chittenden County moved its offices to 412 Farrell St., Suite 200, South Burlington. The phone number is 864-7541; for the Volunteer Center, 860-1677. The offices are behind Creative Habitat off Shelburne Road.

Lindsey Wetmiller was hired as business development assistant for the Vermont Chamber of Commerce. She will work with the vice president of business development and international trade. The Shelburne native is a recent graduate of St. Lawrence University.

Rick Milliken, general manager of the DoubleTree Burlington Hotel, announced the promotion of two banquet captains to banquet supervisor: Kelly M. Cheney and Conor James McQuade. Cheney joined the DoubleTree Hotel in 2005. McQuade joined the hotel in 2002 and was named Employee of the Year in 2006.

Teresa Murphy was named vice president for marketing and communications at Fletcher Allen Health Care. The department was formerly called public relations and marketing. Murphy was at Adventist HealthCare in Rockville, Md.

Trustees at Central Vermont Medical Center announced the appointment of Judy Tarr as president and chief executive officer. Tarr replaces Daria V. Mason, who retired at the end of June after 30 years of service. Tarr was president and CEO of Miles Healthcare in Damariscotta, Maine.

Zoltan Horvath was named vice president of Vermont operations for The McKernon Group of Brandon and of Glens Falls, N.Y. Horvath joined the design/build company in 2006. Stewart Hobbs was named vice president of New York operations. He has been with the company since 2001.

DuBois & King Inc. announced the appointment of Mark S. Kohler, P.E., as director of the building services division. Kohler has 20 years’ mechanical and facilities engineering experience with commercial, institutional, industrial and residential projects. He will work in the firm’s Williston office.

Pioneer Environmental Associates LLC of Vergennes announced that William N. McDavitt joined the firm as senior fluvial geomorphologist. McDavitt was with O’Connor Environmental Inc. in Eureka, Calif.

BRB Systems Inc. announced the addition of Abby White as public relations specialist. White joins with more than seven years’ communications and marketing experience in the nonprofit and private sectors. She was with the Vermont Land Trust.

Thomas S. Leavitt, executive vice president of Merchants Bank, announced that Doreen F. Allen was appointed by the board of directors as Community Reinvestment Act officer, a role held by Leavitt since February 1996. Allen has been with the bank since November 1987, and, since 1995, has served as branch president for the Northfield office. Wendy S. Rea was promoted to branch president for the Barre office. With the bank since 1996, Rea has been acting branch president and succeeds Terry Bessette. Kathryn J. Hamilton, branch president in North Bennington, was named branch president for the Putnam Square office in downtown Bennington. She succeeds Barbara Fortini, who is retiring.

Union Bank announced the promotion of Rhonda Bennett and Robyn Sheltra. Bennett, a vice president and commercial lender, was designated community reinvestment officer. Sheltra, branch manager of the Stowe office, was promoted to assistant vice president.

Bread Loaf Corp. architects, planners and builders announced that Todd Nebraska has moved to the business development and marketing department as a manager of client services. For the last two years, Nebraska was project superintendent on the Paresky Center at Williams College, the company’s largest project.

KeyBank announced that Charles R. Aronica, senior vice president, was promoted to regional sales manager for Key Investment Services in the Northeast. Aronica was senior vice president and market manager for Key’s western New York and Rochester, N.Y., districts. Those districts and Vermont are among the seven he will now supervise from his Buffalo, N.Y., office. •
