Earth Turbines Inc. announced the hiring of Anne Bijur to its customer communications team. Bijur was sustainability coordinator for Shelburne Farms.

Mehran Assadi was designated the next president and chief executive officer of National Life Group. The announcement was made by the company’s board of directors. Assadi, president of NLGroup’s life and annuity division, will succeed Thomas H. MacLeay, who is retiring Dec. 31 as president and CEO. MacLeay will remain as chairman of the board.

Brian Valentine joined the law firm of Mickenberg, Dunn, Lachs, Hazel & Smith PLC as partner. Valentine has more than 18 years’ litigation and transactional experience. He practiced law in New York, New Jersey, and Washington state before coming to Vermont in 2000. He is also an adjunct professor at Community College of Vermont.

Heather Lemon joined Carney Antell LLC as senior marketing representative. Lemon supports the service and marketing strategies to individual and company retirement plan clients. She has more than 10 years’ experience in the industry and was with Bancnorth Investment Group.

Roxanne Gentes joined the staff of Granite State Development Corp. She will assist David Blow, vice president, with loan applications, underwriting and closings. Gentes was a residential mortgage originator with Liberty Quest Financial in Williston.

Data Innovations announced that Lisa Bromley was promoted to worldwide director of business development. Bromley has been with the company for more than 11 years. David Bean was named director of operations for North America. He was vice president, operations, and general manager, support services, with GE Healthcare (formerly IDX Systems Corp.) and has more than 18 years’ experience. He assumes Bromley’s prior responsibilities.

Finard Properties LLC has promoted James Polli to director of marketing for University Mall in South Burlington. Polli, who was marketing assistant, spearheads mall programs and events, advertising, and sponsorships.

Judy Tarr, president and CEO of Central Vermont Medical Center, announced that Sameer Shetty, M.D., was named hospitalist medical director. Shetty earned his M.D. in pediatrics from Kasturba Medical College in Karnatak, India. He is board-certified in internal medicine. 

Molly Dillon, president of Merchants Trust Co., announced that Katherine P. Mosenthal and Sheri A. Savage joined the firm as senior relationship managers and will serve clients from the bank’s office at 274 Main St. in Manchester. Mosenthal is an attorney who was vice president and trust administrative officer for the Trust and Investment Group at Factory Point National Bank, now Berkshire Bank. Savage served nine years as vice president and investment officer for the same group.

Competitive Computing business technology consulting firm in Colchester announced several new hires. Stevan Schmid, channel sales specialist, was with Husky Injection Molding Systems. Jennifer Havey, marketing communications manager, was with ADE Software Corp. Victor LaLoggia, software developer, was with Citigroup in New York. Lucie Janusz Hayward, e-business project manager/analyst, was with Target. Thomas Chittenden, systems engineer, a VMware Certified Professional, was with the University of Vermont. Joanne Jastatt, e-business program manager, was with Turner Broadcasting Systems. Chris Custer, senior SharePoint developer, was with VELCO. Nate Strules, senior software engineer, was with Burton Snowboards. Lori Chalmers, e-business operations manager, was with IDX.

Jay Renzulli was promoted to controllers team leader in the manufacturing division at Husky Injection Molding Systems. He joined Husky in 1998.

Neville Companies hired Matthew Whitman as a property manager. Whitman has a background in hospitality and engineering. He is OSHA-certified in general construction and has a natural gas installer license from Vermont Gas. 

Norwich University announced the launch of an online master of science in business continuity management program, one of the first master’s programs in the United States focused solely on business continuity. Business continuity is a relatively new field that addresses the breadth of systems, policies, and procedures that allow businesses to continue running in the event of a disaster such as 9/11 or Hurricane Katrina.

John Stimets, vice president and affiliate manager of Country Business Inc.’s Burlington office, announced that Stuart K. Wichert joined the Burlington office as an associate. He was affiliated with CBI’s Manchester office. Wichert has nearly 40 years’ experience with top corporations, and owned and operated two businesses after leaving the corporate world. 

Larry Meier, chairman of the IP practice group at Downs Rachlin Martin, announced the hiring of two attorneys. Tomas D. Kohler practiced patent and trademark law for more than 20 years in New York and California. He is a registered patent attorney. Justin McCabe graduated near the top of his class at Vermont Law School last spring. He is also a registered patent agent.

Bill Young, executive director of Maple Leaf Farm, announced the addition of Allen Schaffer, M.D., to the primary care staff. Shaffer is a senior resident is psychiatry at the University of Vermont and is board-certified in internal medicine.

Burak Anderson & Melloni PLC, announced the addition of Colleen M. Price to its professional staff as office manager. Price was corporate services manager with Rossignol Ski Co. Inc. for 12 years.

Thomas S. Leavitt, executive vice president of Merchants Bank, announced the appointment of Kelly A. Kimball as branch president of the Essex office. Kimball succeeds Linda J. Eaton, who retired in October. She has been with the bank since 1986.

Corporate Outfitters announced the hiring of Jeff Bushey to its sales team. Bushey, who was in the custom identity business with another promotional product company, was previously sales manager at the Best Western Windjammer.

NRG Systems Inc. announced several hirings. Timothy Cusick is IT applications administrator. He was with the state of Vermont. Edmir Becirovic and Lauren Paine are electronics technicians. Becirovic was with Adecco Services; Paine is a recent graduate of Vermont Technical College. Paul Dawson was named sales account manager for North American markets. He was with Management Recruiters. •
