Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. announced its acquisition of Diedrich Coffee Inc. Diedrich Coffee, which produces three brands of specialty coffees — Diedrich, Coffee People, and Gloria Jean’s — has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Green Mountain. The acquisition was announced by Lawrence J. Blanford, Green Mountain Coffee’s president and chief executive officer. Through the acquisition, the company gains manufacturing and distribution facilities in California. Diedrich will be integrated into Green Mountain’s specialty coffee business unit.

John Larkin, the owner of Lark-Inns of South Burlington, announced the completion of an extensive renovation and expansion of the lobby and guest reception areas of the Comfort Suites Hotel on Shelburne Road. The project doubles the size of the original lobby, allowing a more expansive breakfast area, complemented by a stone fireplace. The recently renovated Sunset Ballroom offers space for events of up to 250 attendees.

Green Mountain Inn in Stowe announced the complete refurbishing of 12 of the historic hotel’s main inn room inventory. The project includes remodeling bathrooms, improving air conditioning systems, readjusting floor plans, installing high-grade noise-damping windows, and adding large-screen plasma televisions. Patti Clark is the innkeeper.

Myrkel Staley sub-leased 1,500 square feet of restaurant space at 1353 North Ave., Burlington, from Kelly Nguyen, the owner of Pro Filer Nail Salon. Peter Yee of Redstone represented Nguyen. Staley plans to open a deli at the site.

360.org leased a small office at One Main Street, Burlington, from Main Street Landing. Peter Yee of Redstone procured the tenant.

Richard Kendall, president of Sovernet Communications of Bellows Falls, and Joe Allen, president of Power Shift of Stowe, announced jointly that Sovernet is acquiring the broadband services division of Power Shift. Current Power Shift DSL customers will not see service interruptions, and Power Shift customer service will continue to provide support through the transition.

David Brown, president of Vermont Heating & Ventilating Co. in Winooski, announced the acquisition of Bedard Heating and Cooling from Ben Bedard. It is the second acquisition for VHV in the last two years.

Gallagher, Flynn & Co. announced the move of its headquarters from Burlington to a newly built, LEED-certified commercial office building at 55 Community Drive in South Burlington’s Technology Park. The address is also home to MBA HealthGroup and JPMorgan Chase.

April Desabrais, the owner of ManeStream Salon in Middlebury, leased retail space from Deirdre Holmes and Jacob Edgar at 3 Park St. The space has been completely renovated and the salon has moved from its prior location. Duncan Harris of Redstone represented the landlord and procured the lease.

AT&T, Adam Hergenrother of Keller Williams Realty, and MyWebGrocer have leased space from Stonewater Partners in the Water Tower Hill office park. Steve Donahue of Donahue Associates made the announcement.

Kinney Pike Insurance was bought from Kevin Tibbits, president and owner since September 2000, by Peter Werner, Justin Barwood, and Doug Corman, longtime senior officers of the company. The agency was recently named a 2009 Best Practices Agency by the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America. The company, founded in 1904, is one of Vermont’s largest independent agencies, with six locations: Rutland, White River Junction, Randolph, St. Johnsbury, Poultney, and South Burlington.

Northeast Delta Dental of Concord, N.H., through its affiliate, Red Tree Holdings Inc., has acquired Combined Services LLC, a general insurance agency, from Fort Dearborn Life Insurance Co. The announcement was made by Tom Raffio, president and CEO of Northeast Delta Dental. Combined Services has entered into an exclusive long-term contract to offer Fort Dearborn Life’s group and voluntary life and disability products in Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire. Brian Francis remains president and CEO of Combined Services.

Waitsfield Cable has purchased the local affiliate of Resort Sports Network, Mad TV 12, from Mad River Valley residents Dori Ingalls and Ian Sweet. Airing on Waitsfield Channel 12, Mad TV 12 offers national shows geared toward outdoor enthusiasts and valley visitors. Greg Haskin, president and CEO of Waitsfield Cable made the announcement.

Vintage Jewelers, owned and operated by Dolores Kurjan, leased 700 square feet of retail/office space at 125 College St. in Burlington. Peter Yee of Redstone listed and leased the property.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. announced the acquisition of Timothy’s Coffees of the World Inc. of Toronto from an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners Inc. for approximately $157 million. The acquisition includes the Timothy’s World Coffee brand and wholesale business, but does not include retail operations. It will be maintained as a wholly owned Canadian subsidiary with operations integrated into GMCR’s specialty coffee business unit. The retail portion of Timothy’s business was purchased by Bruegger’s Enterprises Inc. and will continue to support the Timothy’s brand across Canada. GMCR’s acquisition includes a five-year coffee supply agreement with Bruegger’s Canadian affiliate.

Mark Saba, the owner of Formula Ford of South Barre, announced the purchase of Walker Motors in Montpelier from Wade Walker. Formula Ford’s operation will move to the Walker Motors site on the Barre–Montpelier Road. Walker will continue to operate his other dealerships.

Edgewater Gallery has bought the Middlebury property at 1 Mill St. from Frog Hollow Craft Association. The property was the longtime home of Frog Hollow Craft Center and its educational partner. Green Mountain Concert Services Inc., Green Mountain Flagging LLC, and Catamount Accounting and Tax Services PLLC leased a 2,000-square-foot office building at 67 Center Road in Essex from Mark Johnson of Colchester. The three companies relocated their operations from Hinesburg to the new location.
